We bought some new things to continue and improve our mobile garden. The lettuces are ready to be transplanted to our hydroponic system. We bought more pots for some of the plants, more soil, jalapeño seeds and the material for the hydroponic system. We will be posting about this new process that we are about to start as soon as we do so. We are so exited to show you. Meanwhile, take a look at these pictures.
We are a group of students from Centro Escolar Los Altos in Guadalajara Mexico. We will be posting about an organic garden project that we are going to be working on during the next few months. In this blog we will constantly update our progress from the beggining to the very end.

GARDEN CARE
Today we planted some of the lettuces and the chives into the new pots. We will experiment with one of the lettuces in the hydroponic system to see if it works. If it works out, we will grow the rest with this method. We also did some garden cleanup and checked that the rest of the plants were growing well enough. Unfortunately the dill died a few days ago. We will do some research on it to see what went wrong. We will also be planting the jalapeño seeds into the nursery system. Here are the latest pictures of the garden. Enjoy.

Update
Plants are growing steadily but some of them need to be transplanted to bigger pots. The basil is the plant that has grown the most. Check them out!

LOOK AT WHAT I FOUND...
I went to the market this weekend and found this poster outside. For those of you who live in Guadalajara this is a great opportunity to learn and practice about hydroponic and organic cultives. They will show you some techniques so you can do a small garden or if you prefer, a large cultive.
If you decide to assist, please make sure to share your experience with us!
P.S. I will be soon posting some pictures of our organic mobile garden. The plants have grown so much already it is hard to believe.

STEP VIII
Now that the plants are in the mobile garden, we must keep taking care of them. We have to add more soil, water them, make sure they get enough sunlight and check for any bugs or plagues. They are growing and changing evry day.

STEP VII
Now that we have added the wheels to the garden, we can proceed with the next step. This step consists on planting the germinated plants in the actual mobile garden. Some of them are not quite ready to be transplanted, however we will plant the ones that are sufficiently grown. Check out the pictures below!
One of our readers asked about the germination process. I can say the process we chose is pretty effective due to the good results that we achieved. This process consists on germinating the seeds on mini pots that are placed in a water tray (you can look at some pictures in our first post). The mini pots contain each a dehydrated peat moss tablet, that is hydrated at the moment of the planting. More details on what we did HERE.
